Silverado Hospice
Starting in September 2024, Icon Art Academy partnered with Silverado Hospice to create meaningful artwork for patients receiving hospice care. Through this collaboration, students help foster a comforting and enriching environment through art while strengthening community connections. This initiative empowers students to use the skills they develop in class to make a positive impact and actively engage with their community through creative service.
A Small Gift with Big Heart: Charm Keychain Project
In November, our students created charm keychains. Though small in size, these keychains are simple, practical gifts that can accompany patients or families wherever they go—perfect for bringing a happiness to patients and families. Also, it serves as a daily reminder that someone is thinking of them.
Creative Comfort: Wood Coaster Project
In April, our students created hand-painted wood coasters, designed to add a personal and cheerful touch to hospice patients' spaces, showing once again how art can bring comfort and warmth. Each student painted their own unique design on natural wood slices, turning simple coasters into small pieces of functional art.olunteer program.
Spreading Love with Art: Origami Flowers Project
February was all about love and creativity at Icon. Our students dedicated their skills to crafting beautiful paper flower bouquets for the patients. The "Valentines’ Origami Flowers" project brought warmth and joy to those in need of comfort, proving once again that art has the power to connect and heal.
Icon Art Academy proudly supports Silverado Hospice’s mission,
“We believe that the final stages of life’s journey should be taken with dignity and comfort. Our vision of hospice is based in addressing all aspects of comfort – physical, mental and spiritual – for both the patient and their loved ones. This is the guiding principle of our care, and we strive to meet each patient and family’s needs with a unique care plan that will support them best during this challenging time.”
We’re proud of our students for using their creativity to make a meaningful impact, and we look forward to the next project in our ongoing journey of giving back. Join Icon Art Academy and start making a difference in your community too.
Bringing Joy Through Art:
Memory Bear Project
In October, our students crafted Memory Bears—stuffed animals made from a loved one’s clothing to provide comfort to grieving families. These projects help patients and their families cherish special memories through art.
