Digital Painting

About

This course provides a comprehensive introduction for students of all skill levels, to the subject of digital painting. Students of all ages, skill levels, and career goals are welcomed in this course. The course will primarily use Adobe Photoshop and Procreate, and will also incorporate prior knowledge of traditional 2D mediums. Students can expect a blend of Illustration/ Fine Art and Entertainment Design based topics. The course will begin with a structures, foundational curriculum that will serve as an introductory guide to digital painting. This will lead into custom assignments, which are given to grow necessary skills for each student’s career and/or personal goals.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the program, you should be able to:

  • Basic functions of Photoshop/Procreate

  • Understand the fundamental process of digital painting

  • Render in various forms and materials

  • Design with an understanding of color, shape, and proportion

  • Utilize lighting and composition for storytelling

Level 1: Foundation Illustration

Level 2: Digital Painting Intro

Level 3: Supplemental Portfolio or Illustration Portfolio

*Prerequisite: Foundation Illustration

Why are prerequisites important?

Prerequisites are a way of making sure that students, like you, enter into a course or subject with some prior knowledge. This, not only helps the instructor to teach at a certain level, but it also helps students to feel more comfortable and confident with the subject matter.


Class Recommendation

Figure Drawing Practice & Live Figure Drawing

In figure drawing, you can learn how to capture action from the movement of the body to the balance between proportions to tensions. And this is the basic knowledge for every artist. Figure drawing also is an essential subject in every art college portfolio and can be used for various industries such as fashion, animation, gaming, etc.

  • Date: Every Sunday (Live Figure Drawing is only available for last Sunday of every month)

  • Time: 10am-1pm

  • Materials: Newsprint, Charcoal, Pencils & Erasers
