Creative Comfort: April’s DIY Wood Coaster Project
This April, our students at the Irvine-based ICON Art Academy continued their monthly collaboration with Silverado Hospice by creating hand-painted wood coasters. These DIY coasters were designed to add a personal and cheerful touch to hospice patients' spaces, showing once again how art can bring comfort and warmth.
Painting with Purpose
Each student painted their own unique design on natural wood slices, turning simple coasters into small pieces of functional art. From florals to abstract patterns, the variety of styles reflected each artist’s individuality while keeping patients in mind. These coasters were then gifted to patients through Silverado Hospice’s volunteer program.
Simple Acts, Big Meaning
Though small in size, these coasters carry a big message—someone out there cares. Our students used their creativity to make something both beautiful and useful, brightening someone’s day through thoughtful design.
Part of a Bigger Picture
As part of our ongoing art volunteering efforts in Orange County, this project is another example of how ICON Art Academy students use their artistic skills to connect with the community. Each monthly project not only benefits patients but also teaches our students the power of giving through art.
